Lava Flow Continues Unrelenting March


INTERNATIONAL: Lava slowly engulfs the village church in Todoque on the Spanish island of La Palma on Sunday afternoon, following a week-long volcanic eruption.

Fires caused by the volcano's lava have spread throughout the area, causing the church's bell tower and neighbouring buildings to collapse.The church narrowly escaped earlier in the week when lava stopped just short of it.

Experts say there are two active lava flows from the volcano, one fast-moving flow to the north and a slower one to the south.

Dramatic Footage Captures Car Accident


Surco Municipality security cameras record a driver losing control of his car and overturning before going downhill last week. After the car crashed into a wall, the car windows were broken, but the driver couldn't open the door so he exited through the window. Paramedics reported the driver had scrapes on his calves and bumps on his elbow.

Amtrak Train Derailment Investigated


And, Three people have died and 50 others are injured after an Amtrak train derailed in Montana on Saturday afternoon. It set off a frantic response by rescuers who scrambled to pull passengers from the eight cars of the Empire Builder train carrying 141 passengers and 16 crew aboard that went off the rails near Joplin in north-central Montana. The train was headed for Seattle from Chicago.

The cause of the accident was not immediately clear. The National Transportation Safety Board says that it has launched a “go-team” to investigate the derailment.
